Olympic Gold!

The Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics are on and yesterday in the Men's Moguls, it was a gold medal for Alexandre Bilodeau, silver for Australia and bronze for the USA. It was a great moment for Canadians as it was the first gold medal won on home soil. These guys were amazing to watch. It was inspiring. How amazing it would be to have a chance to participate in the greatest of all sporting events...the Olympics!! I haven't blogged because I have been busy following all the daily events.
I can't think of anything inspiring to write about at the moment. It is late and we just got home. I will simply put this out there. What event would you compete in in the Winter Olympics and why?

Well..... if I don't have to deal with reality I would LOVE to be a figure skater.

I dreamed of it as a little girl 'floating' around the loungeroom and have always loved to watch it.

Alas - God didn't really bless me with the 'graceful' gene so the reality is a little different :-)

Hmm.. probably woman's Bobsled.. I like sledding and speed.. and I think it probably has a low wipeout probability.

Alex is so inspiring. I have watched the story about him and his brother over and over again. Congrats to all you Canadian bloggers for such a great victory!!

I would compete in the board cross. I have never been able to stand up on a snowboard, but I ski great. Everytime I try to stand up the board goes out from underneath me and I slide down the hill on my side. I know that once I lose this weight, snowboarding will become much easier. The jumps and speed of the board cross are just awesome and I think it would be the sort of extreme thing I'd get a big kick out of!

Isn't that little Alexandre a cutie. The poor Aussie looked so dejected. I felt a bit sorry for him, but then that's how we felt when the US won the women's moguls the night before ahead of the Canadian. And the US bronze winner just looked pleased as punch. I am assuming you are Canadian, but I don't know where you are (I'm in Ottawa).

If I had to pick a sport to pursue, it would probably be Cross-country skiing-don't like to get hurt. Watching others ski from the chalet while sipping a nice warm toddy is an enjoyable sport as well. Cheers.

Snowboard half-pipe! I love the Olympics. I dvr them and watch every night (or all weekend). I find it so incredibly inspiring and cry like a baby when people like Alex win. He and his brother are so amazing! I love when he said that even on days when he doesn't want to train because it's raining, etc. He does because his brother can't. Hello, NO excuse for not exercising right?
